Objectives

1. To promote education and training of persons with disabilities by integrating them in the mainstream of technical and vocational education and skill development programmes through formal and non-formal programmes.

1. To identify the persons with disabilities in the suitable geographical area of the polytechnic.

2. To identify suitable education and training programmes for persons with disability, with special emphasis on non-formal skill development programmes for illiterate youth with disabilities, for promoting wage and self employment, as far as possible at their place of residence.

3. To design need and competency based curricula for the persons with disabilities.

4. To prepare/ procure/ develop suitable resources, including physical, human and informational, for effective implementation of the programmes.

5. To develop norms and standards for different phases of the scheme, wherever needed.

6. To network and collaborate with resource institutions and other organizations and take their assistance for manpower training, guidance and effective implementation of the Scheme.

7. To sensitize administrators, planners, faculty, staff and students and community at large about the problems and capabilities of the students with disabilities and to create suitable environment in the polytechnics.

8. To develop innovative educational technologies and approaches for providing guidance and counseling and placement of youth with disabilities for wage and self-employment opportunities.

9. To evolve suitable method and practices for monitoring the scheme.

10. To undertake any other activity this will help in achieving the objectives of the scheme
